Post More Info on the 92 M5

1992 was the first year for the M5 3.8 in europe. Still was a 5 spd, but in 95 went to a 6spd.

The car can only be imported into the U.S. or used as a track-only car in Canada. The car is in mint condition and I think the asking price is about $23,500 CDN or $16,000 U.S.

Hans,
There is still not enough info on this car...what is the contact information? Is it your own car or do you just know about it? What kind of federalization does it need for U.S.?
Thanks,
Bill

Definitely don't want to question anyones integrity, especially not on this board. Though there is some truth to the saying you get what you pay for and I am having a hard time believing a pristine 92 M5 with the 3.8 engine would be selling for $16,000. USD. I would be hard pressed to find a 91 3.6 in good condition for that price. I would strongly advise a thorough inspection from good third party knowledgable with BMW M-cars. IMHO

No problem on questionning somebody's integrity. The car is no longer $16,000 it's $18,000 and its firm (lot's of work to make it perfect has been completed over the last month that I didn't know about, list is long). Oh, but Tim you forgot that there's $7,000 worth of importation work that has to be done. Which makes the car $25,000. Still a lot more car than a U.S. 3.6 for the same price.

Hi Hans,

Why can't this car be imported to Canada?

Hi Big

Ask transport Canada... They will not under any circumstance let you import a Euro car... US yes, with mods. But I've heard of people sneaking in Euro cars. Register them as a province to prov. sale. And if Tran Cnd catches up with you, pay the CND $5K fine and they wouldn't bother you again... I can't validate this, but that's what I've heard.

What does this mean? Too expensive? Considering that a guy just below is asking $25,000 for a 91 with the same mileage, I think it's fair.

Well, not 25 but 25 + 5 "tax" I do think is a bargain! But would they really leave you alone? The fine is understandable but the point of it is to deter you from doing something right? It's like saying that once you get a parking ticket, you can stay there all your life.
