servicing frequency ????

Could anyone please tell me how frequently my servicing lights should be going off. i've just had an oil service done on friday, and by tuesday, one of the green lights had gone off!!!!! i had travelled about 400km, is this normal???? i had a major service completed in early july this year, is it normal to need another, so soon after (nearly 3 months - 5000 km?) any advice would be apreciated

It is difficult to say. The service lights are supposed to extinguish based on mileage driven + driving style. Friday to Tuesday seems a bit fast with only 400 km., on the other hand if you were driving very aggressively, it is conceivable that a service light would go off. I rarely drive my M5 on long trips so I usually end up changing the oil before the lights go out (every 3 months or so).

Hi Tim,

Mine does that too! I don't know why, but the next 4 lights take a whole lot longer to go out, so I wouldn't worry about it too much!

Regards

John

Hi there

The service indicator takes several factors into consideration. Number of cold starts and length of time running cold, distance driven and time elapsed since last service. Lastly it also takes into account the ammount of time your engine spends above 5000 rpm and shortens the service intervals rapidly if you make use of high revs.
