Just finished spring cleaning my E34 & E39 M5's for the summer season. Got some new tyres to fit for the E39 (Michelin PS4's) and I've decided to run the E34 on throwing stars this year so I'll put the turbines into storage.
Took both cars out this weekend after taxing them, great to be back behind the wheel. My F10 is an astonishing car but there is something about its older brothers that puts a smile on your face.
great pics Dan, cars look wonderful - and store those turbines carefully......
I have been dusting off cars in the last few weeks also, but haven't bothered to wash one yet - the E34 has been on daily duties this week, and the M3 was last cleaned in 2015........I will try and post a pic on here once they are suitably processed....
Car went well, feels really slow by modern standards, not helped as the F10 has cleared diluted my sense of speed.
Just trying to sort out insurance as that is now due for renewal this month, 3k mileage policy at 15k value, Admiral came out cheapest so far at £183, however thats not been straight forward to arrange as of yet (I already have an existing multicar policy with Admiral and they refused to add the e34 previously) so not sure what is going on with that quote..
I still think the E34 is plenty fast enough for the road, you just need to work a bit harder to keep it on the boil.
The F10 has got so much power that you can be in any gear at any revs and it will still leave most other cars for dead. It makes my E39 feel slow which is ridiculous as it's anything but.
You can't beat the howl from an S38 though, no matter how fast you're going.
I just switched to Admiral for the 20J. Undercut the previous quote by a major amount and did agreed value at a level that made me happy. I suspect they are doing a loss leader on classic cars, and will try to ratchet me up next year. If that's the case then confused.com will help me drop them like a bad habit......
I was on multicar a few years ago, and noticed that they ratcheted the premiums up every year which I presumed was due to the significant administrative overhead of switching multiple cars. So I now use confused.com to insure each car separately, moving from year to year as needed. Seems to work well.
Two of the three best M5 generations - you have great taste.
