I recently used a laucnh x431 diagnose to access the systems in my 95 M5. I was able to see all the sensors from the suspension sending info real time with that tool. Pretty cool. If you put the button to S, the car becomes very stiff. If you have any real time diagnose tool, you should be able to see all sensors working and the stated switch position on the tool´s screen.
Access via my iPhone, with the launch software you can download. Just have to have the 20 pin cable, also.
Regards
