M5 Meetings?

Hey Chaps,

Around the Berkshire area, any peeps get together for some grub and a poke around oily bits ?

Re: M5 Meetings?

We had a get-together on April 3rd in East Hertfordshire. It was good fun to guff on about our cars and compare/contrast!

If you've got somewhere nice we can get together for some pub food with some space to park our M5s, suggest away!

As long as I'm not already on holiday, I'll come along!

Re: M5 Meetings?

Hi Simon

I'm in Twyford at the moment, moving to Bracknell towards the end of the month. Let me know if you want to meet up.

Cheers

Brian

Re: M5 Meetings?

Thanks chaps,

What I need to try and get some peace of mind for is the ride and the engine power. I did drive the Munich Legends LE but on some roads my suspension (in P) is awful and clonky over low speeds bumps.

The motorway ride is very good.

S setting does seem slightly different but mot much?

Is this just the 18s on the LE and hard suspension anyway?

It had new front dampers 25k ago in 02 and new springs this month.. Is the clonking a bushing problem??

Cheers

Sime

Re: M5 Meetings?

Simon

I have had the same problem on my M540i. It was not the EDCIII struts, as replacement failed to fix the low speed clunks, but rather a combination of top strut mounts, upper control arm bushings and the ball joint on the upper control arms.

I replaced the arms (with new bushings), the top mounts and the stabilizer bar links and it felt like I had a new car up front. And no more clunks!

I got all my parts from BMA (patrick@bmaparts.com) who landed them in Australia at a far lower cost than the dealer quoted here. If you need part numbers (the same on my M540i for these parts as on your M5) let me know.

Cheers

Re: M5 Meetings?

Sime

The ride is a little bit crashy with those large wheels, but you shouldn't really be able to hear clonking.

Lets organise a get-together and you can drive mine. See other thread I've just created.
