EDC NOT ACTIVE

Any ideas anyone?

I'm getting an intermittent 'EDC NOT ACTIVE' warning. This happened following new rear subframe bushings being fitted and a SLS wiring fault being
repaired. See this thread for more info - Time to let my M5 Touring go?????

Suggested causes are the EDC ECU. But, I'm not convinced! Too much coincidence for my liking.

Any help greatly appreciated as always!

Id be very suspicious of wiring to the rear dampers. The wiring under the rear seat can get chaffed & where the harness exits out of the rear seat floor bulkhead behind the battery can get damaged to. The wiring harness runs out nr the rear subframe & gets chaffed with the obvious problems & sometimes the fuel pump wiring can also get damaged here with poor or no fuelling as it runs within the same harness bundle.
Those EDC controllers dont tend to go wrong very much, though I accept that a couple of the forum members have changed them recently.

No Guarantees here but I would check around these areas first.

Regards
Farrell

I'm 99% sure you will find it is the cabling. In order to get EDC not Active warning, the EDC CPU has to be working to diagnose.

Re: EDC NOT ACTIVE

Thanks for that M5 Powered and Farrell. Just what I was thinking. Absolutely, the CPU either works or not in my view.

I was watching my mechanic tug the harness around when the SLS fix was made!
