Todde-Veilen Dank fur Ihre preziese Antwort.Yes,FI on the S38 is possible,just very expensive!I know guy's that easily drop $50,000+ on FI on their M3,so why not the big and beatiful E34?Before I bought my 540i,the previous owner dropped $25,000 on Dinan parts alone.So,there are people out there that will pay alot of money to mod their cars,even if it makes no sense to some.I personally salute those people and learn from their mistakes as well as victories.

I'm pretty sure that equates to some very high internal psi...
I never had a single problem(just got tired of paying for NOS, so I had it stroked) and I ran this system for about 3 yrs.I think I did a write up on this board about it under the old sign-on (pimpstaa6)7-8 yrs ago?

just another example of how bulletproof these motors are with proper maintenence
love and knowledge
Nitrous Oxide does nothing more than add oxygen to the mixture in order to "squeeze" more oxygen into the limited space that is the combustion chamber. This means that , when NOS is engaged,there can be up to 20% more oxygen in the mixture, i.e the capacity "gets larger" because of this shortcut.

This is however in NO WAY comparable to the stress that S/C inflict on the pistons / head / valves etc..

Biggest problems I have encountered with NOS was that we couldn't get the mixture rich enough. Either the car ran bad without NOS engaged, or it ran reasonably WITH nitrous oxide... When we broke the 6 second barrier* on the 1/8 mile, it was the last run that engine ever did..No way we could prevent it from running lean and thus overheating in a major way.

I think its save to say the S38 will take NOS a lot better in (great) stock shape compared to S/C.

* not in my M5!!

Care to explain?

All supercharging does is squeeze more oxygen molecules into a given space.

I would no sooner put NOS on an S38 than supercharge it.

All I can say is that there are many a melted piston and shattered intake out there that might disagree.

NOS is a beautiful thing when used properly. I've often pondered S38 applications.
Any links to fugginfazt's old posts?
