Jackals
All bright eyed and bushy tailed this morning, put the briefcase in the boot walked to the drivers door and there it was - a nice hole where my rear quarterlight used to be and a back seat covered in cubes of glass. Nothing taken as I never leave anything and no sign of entry. My neighbour heard the alarm in the early hours and looked out of his window but saw no sign of the scum. I had wondered when it would happen (on road parking in the ghetto ie SE London) but its still a pain in the ***. Got a clearer sound of the beast on the M11 but thats no consolation. I think we should send these %%% to Abu Gharaib for rehabilitation.
Could be worse Liverpool Victoria will only want £40 excess.
Frank

Re: Jackals
Frank,
Only £40 excess I'd better try LV next time.
I've a £500 excess which doesn't half make you think twice about claiming.
BTW you are right "Hanging is too good for them"
But I'd settle for that!
Had a lucky escape this morning - A deer leaped the hedge onto the road just in front of me. Wasn't so lucky for the deer though as it hit side/rear of the van in front and skitted down the tarmac picking up a severe dose of road rash. The van driver never even stopped to check it out.
I was left to put it out of it's misery.
That handy baseball bat in the boot!! It would have been put to better use on your problem.

Re: Jackals
Frank, I feel for you I would be searching the streets for the b******s.
Many, many years ago I had the misfortune to hit a deer which had leapt into the road a few feet in front of me. Killed the deer and boy what a load of damage to the car (Renault Fuego Turbo, if anybody remembers them). I was lucky it didn't come through the windscreen otherwise I wouldn't be typing this.

I think Frank is referring to the excess on the windscreen/glass cover rather than his total loss/theft/damage excess (which is about £500 for me as well).

I had the same thing happen to me. Do Not let a glass shop do the work! I took three stealerships to get the work done and it still leaks. The problem is in the sequencing of replacing the parts. If the sequence isn't correct, the parts won't fit, it will look bad and leak when it rains. I also had the rear seats redyed because they scratched them with the glass as they rummaged around.

Re: Jackals
Just got back from a quiet night out, some poor sod parked in the same place as I did has had the same treatment. Big window though so it'll be expensive. This unfortunate person is driving a small people carrier on dutch number plates. He'll have a pleasant surprise in the morning. Welcome to London.
This crap happened around here about 3years ago when nearly every car in the street got done and then it stopped suddenly. Obviously we have a local scum problem. I reported the break in to plod but unless you're a speeding motorist they're not interested. What can you do?

Sit by your upstairs window, with the lights out all night and wait and wait and wait, and then when you see the scum, take aim and fire.
Obviously with your high velocity air rifle, that way you wont run the risk of getting done for murder.
Note for all you serious faces out there, my comments are meant to be taken as a joke

I've thought of that as well as the exploding briefcase left on the backseat.

Re: Jackals
Frank
If you look at the Alpina forum under thread "Alarms" m5killer knows where to get a Clifford pager sytem fitted for under £300.
I know this won't stop the prats from touching your car but it might give you a chance to have a word with them......or similar.
A cheaper idea I have is to put superglue on the rear door handles so that when they go to open the door they will be stuck there until the morning. You can then give them the benefit of the full M5 experience which on foot should teach them a lesson.
Sorry to hear of your problem though as I know how gutted I would feel to find my car broken into even if nothing was missing.
Jim

Thanks Jim, I'm keeping my fingers crossed they'll leave me alone (and unfortunately that probably means some other poor sod gets shafted).
