Please read this message from my Indy and tell me what you think. I am going to get the pics up on photobucket and in here asap:
Hey Geoffrey,
We have been waiting on parts to trail in for the past couple of weeks and most all of them are here now. There has been one other problem that I anticipated addressing during the timing chain replacement. The tensioning rail that the chain tensioner pushes against is worn, deteriorating and should be replaced. The pivot rail sticks up into the upper timing chain housing that is cast into the cylinder head. I have been researching the replacement of the pivot rail and finally got a hold of someone with lots of experience on this engine and have been told that it cannot be replaced with the cylinder head on the engine. I am attaching a number of photos of your engine, the last of which shows the tensioner pivot rail.
If you can I think that it would be good if you can come by and have a look. I know that this is not what had planned, but unfortunately we have a decision to make. Give me a call when you can. Everything else appears to be in good shape.
Sorry for the sad news. Regards,
Barry
