Show off

Mine's working, but it certainly aint that cold
Just out of curiosity, what sort of delay is there between cycles, ie when the revs jump up a little?

Mine seems to come on every 15 seconds or so and stay on for as little as 5 seconds at a time, I have no idea if this is normal or not...

Mine only jumps by about 200rpm when I'm at idle - otherwise there is no noticeable jump.

I doesn't 'cycle' as you put it, it just goes to 1000rpm and stays there!

yea, it rises to about 1000rpm or so, and is only really noticable at idle, though it can be felt while in slow/town traffic.

I thought that when the A/C was running, it would cycle, ie. come on and off, which was noticable by the rise and fall of the revs.

Thats what my BMW mechanic said anyway

That sounds more like a description of climate control which keeps the inside temp to a set level depending on what you set on the controls (by switching on and off?), the air con just blows as hot or cold all the time.

Was this the aux fan at the front of the engine bay that pushes air through the A/C condensor...?

I had _exactly_ the same work done two weeks ago, and it sounds to me like your garage was taking the piss....

Initial Check £Free
Fan £150
Labout to fit £42.56
Discharge & Recharge (including Gas, UV Dye, Oil + inspection) £45

Total £237.56 + VAT

Yep.., thats the aux fan. Europarts supply this part for £150 + VAT, so I'm assuming you had this work done at a BMW dealer ?

Parts are one thing, but charging £218.98 + VAT for an A/C check and regas is _realy_ taking the piss. 1 Hour labour (max) + less than £2 in consumables (1200g gas, oil & dye) IMHO... My local A/C specialist do this for £45 + VAT.
