1991 M5 dash problems No start condition..HELP!

Greetings..

I am trying to restore a 1991 BMW M5 .

I recently installed the 3.6L engine...but my current dilema is the following:

When I installed the new battery, the DASH Cluster will no longer display
* MILEAGE (not displayed)
* CHECK CONTROL (not working)
* FUEL Gauge ( not working)
* TEMP ( not working)

What computer keeps the mileage record?

DME 1.2 ?

The mileage used to be displayed along with the Check Control Alarms
(when a battery was installed prior to the engine installation, I used to get tons of Check Control messages and fuel gauge would rise above 1/4 tank)

I am stumped on this issue...

The engine turns over, but will not fire up.

I have checked fuses and all seem to be fine...

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
