Main beam replacement bulbs

I need to replace both main beam bulbs..
Having gained access to both units and disconnected the white connector.. I would have imagined it would be a simple matter of just twisting the plastic housings and removing them.. they have arrows and 'loosen' etc on them
I cant budge the plastic housings on either side..
Am I doing something wrong here.. have i missed something? I have tried really hard and I now reckon that I'm more likely to break them than remove them.
Any advice here?

Re: Main beam replacement bulbs

It IS a simple matter of twisting the plastic knurled fitting on the back of the lamp housing.

BUT, removing one of mine was really hard a couple of weeks ago. I ended up with water-pump pliers (and a cloth to protect the lamp fitting). I heated it up with a heat-gun first to soften the plastic a little, in an attempt to make it less brittle.

It was REALLY tight, glued in place by 8 years of corrosion to the lamp housing. Good luck, keep twisting until it breaks free. If you break it (the plastic is quite weak), a new one is £13 from a dealer.
