Any of the UK guys up for joining me on a trackday in September at Castle Combe?
I have suggested Castle Combe as I believe it suits the M5 quite well as it's a fast, wide track with plenty of run-off (in most places) and is good for power-slides, without ruining your tyres as an airfield would.
It's on Tuesday 7th September, and costs £175 through BookaTrack.
The other option I am considering is Donington on Monday 13th!
Come on guys, you know you want to - we may even get to see M5 Powered's mythical Lotus!

Personally I'd suggest going to Donnington. You get up to more speed + it has much larger run off areas and easy for first timers. Also it has just been re-surfaced so it is smoooth!!! Finally, it is quite central so no whining about it being dannn saafff or ooopt North.
I would definatly be up for it though. Will Jonny give us an M5 Board group booking discount or should I wake up?
PS. mytyres.co.uk are offering Michelin PS2's for £165 a throw including VAT and delivery. If you've never tried 'em then do. They are probably the best tyre for our beasts!!

I've got a different weapon for track days (see 'View my car'), but if your going to Combe then I'll be there for the crack. (only live 20 mins away...)

The Westfield is great for the track and if I had space for one at home I would have one (Westfield, Caterham, Fury, etc).
What I do most of the time is hire the BookaTrack Caterham Superlight for the day, but occasionally I like to abuse the M5 a little!

When you weigh up the costs the BAT car is quite good value for £499 as long as you don't prang it of course. It pretty much runs rings round everything else, however i'd probably get pissed off driving it for a full day in the wet though!
I quite fancy doing one of the bookatrack trips round Europe where you get to drive a few tracks. Would be imense fun and they will even take your car on the transporter if you're too lazy to drive down! But where is the fun in that!

Just had a look at the Book a Track site, and its £545 for the Caterham which might have been OK if it was a Superlight 500R, but not fo an SV..., 286 bhp/tonne..., sounds a bit rich to me.
You can hire a 355 Spider or a DB7 for less than that, if fact Caterham hire cars themselves for £125 / day.. sure you are going to the track, but thats just slightly different insurance, and a bit more for wear and tear, but not £420's worth IMHO.

Have you tried to hire a 355 for the day for a track day? It's a lot more than £500 and then you have to put the cost of the track day in, the cost (£1000+) of the tyres if/when you wear them out and the cost of the fuel (£100+).
I bet none of those include the £200 for the track day though - and if you go on a Ferrari Experience Trackday you get about 1 hour total time in the car.
With BookaTrack hire you get the car for as much as you can use it - and if you want you can share it - hence two people can get it for £250 each and get 2-3 hours in it.

You beat me to it Tony.
Yes the great thing about the BAT car is you get an open pit lane day so you can have as much time as you want. And yes split between two of you its an even better deal.

Definitely interested in the track day idea, but unfortunately September is looking a bit busy with christenings, wedding anniversaries, holidays already, so probably not this time .

Respectfully have to disagree with you on this one Mr Mmm. My recollection of Castle Combe is b****r all run-off on any of the 3 major corners with big earth banks close to the track at Tower and Quarry, and the pit wall at Camp.
Great fun track though and as you say, probably suited to the M5 than a tighter more twisty track
