"Uppgrading" the clutch to 3,6 item on a 3,8 car....

Hello!
Earlier I asked if this conversion was possible and or feasible. Now it\s time to do the job. I`we checked on the ETK what parts differ; Clutch, pressure plate and flywheel and some hex nuts seem to be the parts needed.
BUT just to be sure, you people who have done the conversion, Please confirm the parts needed so that my car won\t be at the garage all summer waiting parts.
DUrability/disadvantages?

Dr.Sakke@ a 3.6 clutch into a 3.8 car ??? why that ? do u like the resistance
and wish to exercise your left foot/leg ???
the opposite is normally done, i.e. 'upgrade' a 3.6 car with the 3.8 clutch
unless it is the 'flywheel' from the 3.6 Li M5 that u intend to use

I believe it's the lighter single-mass flywheel from the 3.6L car that you want; not the clutch.

Hi Karl!
If you read my post you`ll see that the flywheel is mentioned, Obviously it is the lighter flywheel that I`m after, the 3.6 clutch isn`t compatible with the 3,8 dual-mass flywheel. I was a little careless with my headline for the thread.
I know that there is a few people on the board who has made this job and have experience with the conversion, I`m especially interested in the adverse effect of this change in the clutch/flywheel. Does it increase load on other components and affect durability? More vibrations?

This conversion is supposed to do wonders for the throttle responce and performance of the car, the 3,6 flywheel is 12lbs compared to 29lbs for the 3,8 dual mass unit.
A matter of interest is also the exact parts needed as I have to order the parts in advance and have quite tight schedule so I can`t afford having the car at garage waiting parts....
By the way, I thought the heavines of the clutch Is mainly due to differences in the hydraylics that move the clutch, not the clutch/pressure plate in it self?

Yes, this is the case. sloppy and faulty headline for the thread.

Great pics! Thanks!
I would be thankful if you could list the new parts needed.
Is it just flywheel, clutch and pressureplate and the hex nuts, or do I need to order anything else. Just a bolt-on job or?
Negative experiences?

Flywheel p/n 11 22 1 312 491
M12x1.5x22 hex bolts (8 required) p/n 11 22 0 616 143
dowel pins (3 required, may come with flywheel) p/n 11 22 1 7 44 338
Complete clutch kit p/n 21 21 2 226 428

Negative experience? Only that I did not do it when I first did the 6-speed swap. It's a great change, this is what real M cars are about.
