8000rpm on 3.6 M5 engine!!! Alarm?

I recently tried to discover what was the original Rpm limit of a 3.6 M5, cause i had a impression that mine was a bit higher... well, yesterday i saw it in detail! it does 8000 RPM!!! then cuts off...

I have the car for 2 months now... i thought it was 100% stock... well, it doesnt seme so...

Is it a simple agressive chip?

Help please...

To make any use of 8000 rpm would mean some serious tuning bits ( cams ect ) have been installed. Otherwise ....

It might be that the chip doesn't have a cutoff. It might be that there is a fault on the rev counter unit itself. One thing is certain , if you use 8000 rpm much you will shorten your engine life considerably.

Just out of interest Nuno - did your oil level warning light problem (separate thread) start before or after this 'event'?

i have had the oil issue before i checked that the car could do 8000rpm, but after i tried out the 8000rpm moment it did it again, +/- 1 hour later when i parked the car on the garage.

But the 8000rpm, was for 1 sec acelarating a 3º gear, just to test it.
