Central locking

One of the rear passenger doors stopped responding to the central locking some months ago - meaning I had to physically push or pull up the stalk to lock it. Then two weeks ago it started responding again. Today its gone back to its bad ways and wont function.

Any tips for simply sorting this out?

Cheers in advance and happy Xmas

Frank

Sticky relay perhaps?? You could try swapping the relay from the other rear door and see if that cures it

I had an E30 325i that started doing that. Like Richard Fathers says try the relay first but be prepared for some rewiring work. It didn't cost a fortune on the E30 but then again its not an M car and I have a very friendly garage.

I assume that involves taking off the door panel? Is there a fool proof way of doing it without destroying everything (havent taken one off before)

I had problems with an E30's locking. I bought a new control box for about £70 (I think its in the drivers footwell or maybe in the door) but it made no difference.

Eventually I realised the rubber boot that covers the wiring connector in the drivers door hinge was loose. The connector was full of water. I dried it out and it worked fine.

Worth looking at all the door wiring connectors...........especially the drivers door because it's all worked from there.

I have a new E30 control box if you'd like to try it.
