Front discs

I just changed the front pads on my 94 3.8. The discs say min thickness 30.4mm mine are 28mm!!! How much are a pair going to cost? I assume they will be genuine only, can,t imagine anyone would make pattern ones for a car this rare.

Hi Ian, Don't see your'e car floating round Warwick, You moved!

As for the front discs yes they are BMW only I'm afraid and around the £130-150 mark each from memory.

Look on the bright side though, they are probably one of the few brake discs in the world still hand made!

The rears are about £60-£70 each...again from memory.

regards

Jonathan (M5 Powered)

Hi there,

I guess from Jonathan's post that you have a floating disc car, but just in case its an earlier 3.8, the non-floating discs are £64 each p/n B34.11.2.226.385.

Cheers,
Bryn.

My dad installed new front disks on our 92 3.8L and the box said "750 front disks" this is strange but I went to see a 750 (the old ones) and the disks are really the same...
Never heard of that "hand made disks" you say....

Arthur,

The large floating calipers had 345 mm disks manufactured for BMW. Each one is hand made and signed by the builder. My last set were made by Kirk and the other unreadable.

Anyway, from looking at the construction their job entails welding the spindles to the outercasing and then testing the run out prior to shipment.

Taa Daaa!

regards

M5 Powered
