How often do you change the oil of your 3.6 or 3.8? I changed the oil appr 9000km ago and the "oil service" hasn't come on yet.
I know it depends on your driving style, but what's appropriate? Let's all do the poll and find out the average.

Money in pounds, height in inches.
Kilos and grams for weight. Unless it`s a person you`re weighing, in which case it`s stone and pounds!
I look at prices and buy petrol in litres, but measure my consumption in miles a gallon!!

Interesting results, and a very interesting topic. A topic which has been on my mind since my wife's Discovery TD5 recently distroyed its big eng bearings!!
After some thought I'm going to go the quality synthetic oil route and change it every 5k miles (Discovery) or 6k miles (M5 sevice indicator).
I'd rather spend the time and money on a high quality performance oil than more regular mineral oil changes. I really don't see why synthetic oil shouldn't last at least 6000 miles in a modern engine.
The Discovery service schedules require oil changes every 12k miles. Sure it has a state of the art filtering system but this is simply far too long for the recommended semi-synthetic oil. The Disco needs the 'ultimate oil' because I suspect there's a problem with it's bearing design! There's a chap on the Disco board that changes his every 1500 miles!
By the way, why on earth is synthetic oil sold in tiny 4 litre cartons. Would this be enough for a Smart?
