Movies With Car Chases/action

Hi there guys

Since the clutch thread went off on a car film tangent, i thought i would start a thread on the topic.

Some of the best films I can recall from memory with good car action

The james bond movies
Ronnin
the fast and the furious
target ( with gene hackman and matt dillon)
French connection
who am I ? (jackie chan)
The canonball run
operation swordfish
Taxi
gone in 60 seconds
The blues brothers
Bullet

No doubt there are many others I have forgotten, which ones do you chaps remember worth having a copy for your personal library.

Regards

Joe Rubido

Don't forget about the BMW short films, those are excellent.
Always watch one on my computer every now and then during work to gain inspiration to work hard and get more money so I can get my own Beemer!

Smokey and the Bandit.

the fast and the furious? gone in 60 seconds?

No offense, but I think the fast and the furious (both 1 and 2) and gone in 60 seconds were funny and entertaining, but cr*p in respect to the car chases. 2f2f was more like watching a video game's trailer.
Driven (with stallone) would fit in there too I think.

The Bourne Identity(with Matt Damon) had an excellent car chase. Also Ronin is one of my favourite car chase movies of all times. That Audi S8 rocks.

Watched Bullit with Steve McQueen in it some time last year for the first time. That car chase was brilliant, especially since they say he did all his own driving !! ............ and how was the engine note of that Mustang, cooooooool

The Gumball Rally 1976 for some Daytona Spider and 427 Cobra action.

Le Mans 1971 with McQueen

Vanishing Point

Hooper - with Burt Reynolds

And of course - all of the movies the guys have mentioned above.

I would agree with Prutser, the films he mentioned were rubbish. I watched 'Driven' the other night and it seams to have taken parts from other great films 'Grand Prix', 'Days of Thunder' and so on. What a disgrace!

The original 70's version of 'Gone in Sixty Seconds' is much better or if you really want a laugh try watching the cult film '***** Race 2000'..............Oh and what about 'Two Lane Blacktop' a classic (which I haven't seen for ages) but features a wonderful yellow GTO.

Anybody remember a film called 'Carquake'?

Agree. The only good thing about Fast and Furious was the Dodge Charger. Im not much for drag racing (hate it actually) but that is one cool car. Gone in 60 seconds had too much worthless dialogue and not enough BMWs and chase scenes. Lousy movies overall....not going to waste time seeing 2 fast or 2 fury or whatever.

Hooper. That is a classic movie. The end scene is excellent, so watch the entire thing. I like his choice of watches too...

I kind of like it when motorcycles get in the mix...I know this isnt cars, but I like the chase between Indiana Jones and the Nazi BMW motorcycle soldiers in "The Last Crusade." I think it is too short though.

Back to the Future has an interesting car chase between a Delorean and a VW Bus. Short though.

Mad Max has a chase between a supercharged Mercury Cougar (I think) and a bunch of goofballs in trucks.

I just remembered another Nick Cage movie with a chase scene: "The Rock." Nice chase between a Yellow Ferrari 355 and a Hummer driven by the one and only James Bond, Sean Connery (this oughta cause a stir). Also, hilarious diaglogue between a motorcycle riding hippie and Cage.

Second that on Gumball Rally. The scenes with Ferrari vs 427 Cobra at 100+ are awsome. So is the first couple scenes of the IMSA/Trans Am prepped Camaro with Gary Busey going hog wild.

Most others mentioned are good. Driven, Days of Tunder etc are poor.
