Goodwood 2003 Festival Of Speed !!

I`ve booked a ticket for Sunday 13th July 2003 to go see the Goodwood Festival Of Speed, it was £32.

This is in England near Portsmouth/Southampton on the south coast, maybe an hour from London.

I`ve not been before, and am going alone, so anybody car-mad who wants to meet up there then say !!

I`ve booked sunday, which is supposed to be the best day, but remember it is ticket only that day, so if you want one, book online at www.goodwood.co.uk or call them, number on the website.

I looked at the grandstand seats, which were £55, but the website wouldn`t let me book any, so I presume they are already sold out or something. So, I`ve an admission only ticket, still, expecting a good day.

I will have the digital camera for sure. 14.5x optical, electronically stabilised zoom (eqv 551mm on 35mm), here I come !!

Is anyone else planning to go ?

Ivan.

I went last year as part of a thank you from a client, helicoptered in via AirHarrods, box etc.

Even without this (in fact truthfully I'd have preferred to go on my own rather than having to talk shop and wear a suite) it is THE BEST motor sport event in the UK and the polar opposite of Max Power live which I had the misfortune of attending this afternoon… absolute crap. McDonalds on a Saturday night would have been better.

You will get the chance to see some very rare cars up close and personal from original Martini Delta’s to this years F1 cars. Better still, you get to see them gooning round the circuit! My only advice is to go VERY early, the roads down to the site turn into gridlock.

If I weren’t away on that day, I’d be going with you (definitely will be there next year though).

Have a brilliant time and take plenty of film / memory cards.

Regards

What sort of time do you advise. The paddocks open at 7:00am, with first practice from 9:00am.

What sort of time were you thinking to avoid all the gridlock?

good point.
When I got there, it was no later than 9.00am, and a large number of the crowds were arriving then, though the qeue was not bad, about an hr later though, the entrances/car parks were a mass of cars and people.
Although we still had to qeue for about 20mins to get into the road that leads to the car parking areas.

hi there

I went to the goodwood festival of speed on its second year, and I would agree that its perhaps one of the best places to see great car cars of the past and present, the only problem it that it has become so popular as the years have gone by, that currently there are so many people atending that it has lost some its appeal to me, but in all honesty the earlier you get there the better, that way you will have a chance to look at some of the cars before the crowds become a pain in the ****.

Enjoy and take some pics

Regards
