3.8 M5 Engine Noise (Valve clearance ?)

Hi All,

This is my very first post so please be gentle ;-)

I am hoping to purchase a 1993 3.8 M5 (K Reg) with 112,000miles it has full main dealer service history up to 88k then birds uk and John Paul motors in epping, the car drives well and the engine pulls well but i was wondering what an acceptable amount of engine noise was (i have read other posts on this matter). I have made a short video clip of the engine running after a good run M5 Engine i know that it is probably difficult to tell how noisy the engine is due to ambient noise etc but would appreciate any opinions.

Many Thanks

Miles (hopefully to be an M5 owner very soon )

Ohhh dear, that doesnt sound promising, could it just be the valve clearances that need adjusting ?

Thanks

Yeah, I agree with m5 killer. The engine definitely does not sound right.

Its an engine rebuild so seller needs to sort it out or alter the price accordingly. Personally I'd walk away especially as normally they are good for 180K miles before you even need to change the timing chain!

Regards
