Munich Legends V BMW Main Dealer

To quote other board members i experienced a "STEALERSHIP"

Well i went to my local Main dealer for an Inspection 2 and to have a tracker fitted. Now when booking you go to a "call centre" where they arrange a date for your baby to be LOOKED AFTER. He quoted me £450 for the Tracker and £350 for the service, reasonable me thinks, however i was to be shocked.

Upon arrival i was told the service was in fact £600 ,these prices do not include VAT,i moaned about the info previously received and agreed as long as all the shims were checked and if neccessary changed."we dont have the shim removal tool " My reply was "so you a main dealer do not have the tools to carry out routine service items on ant ///M cars?" "we can order it"I then told him just to put the tracker on and i will pick my car up tomorrow. Now am i unreasonable?

So i called Munich Legends and was told £370+VAT for the insp 2 and that would include an shims as they have tons of them.

So i took my baby down on thursday and Barney gave me the keys to their loan car and i drove home happy in the knowledge that the beast is in good hands

They also checked every thing on the car and reported any defects,as opposed to "reccomending"i do them now

STEALERSHIPS

Now the ONLY disadvantage is i live two minutes from the local dealer and 90mins away from Munich Legends, but,to see the 3.0 CSL,the ///M1 , Z1, a"P" plate LE(rosso) and "THE" RHD Touring all in the flesh and the drive and the customer service and......

I could go on but i am stopping there just to i am pleased

anyone else if you are not sure make the trip.I got some cool pics now to load them

Steve Mac

P.S.They have not seen or heard of another fjord grey saloon

RHD M5touring

Hi Steve Mac !
ML are enthusiasts ! one thing they are NOT good at is answering e-mails then of course there is no money in that ?????
so the RHD-M5touring converted for -Chris Ellis- is back with ML,
now that u hv such a good contact to Barney and being a regular paying customer, wud you mind to get the VIN of that car for me ?
Wud be very much appreciated. (accidently I just hv the BMWCAR magasin July 2000 in front of me with the -only- RHD M5touring-article) to avoid -public- exposure you cud sent it to me privately -

Your local main-delar is not ripping you off, it is just that ML is giving you a better deal and appearantly is more service-minded.
I paid recently appr. GBP 650 for an Inspec II on my ´95B-M5touring using an authorized workshop. The Inspec II on a M5
is known to be expensive. You pay for a BMW-recommended package-price for time and material.

Make sure ML does the COMPLETE job incl the replacement of ALL
the drive-belts with NO extra charge !?

Hi Karl

ML done the job and i have finished for now,so cannot get the vin no for you sorry but it was only in for a service so was not there upon my return to collect my car.Stunning though

As for the dealer i think i will stick with ML as they have enthusiasts working on our cars and not "robots"trained to change oil. Also there is a high staff turnover when the tech`s are qualified as i have been in touch with a couple

I must admit, I have heard mixed reactions where ML are concerned, but until I have had 1st hand experience, I can't really comment!
(Comments such as overpriced cars, poor reply of telephone calls etc) but this is just stuff through the grapevine!
The M5 Touring, was that the one up for £20k?
They had a B10 Touring for sale a while ago, and although it was stated as being in excellent condition, the car was apparently in 'Mid to OK' condition and not worth the figure put on it.
What was your opinion of the stock SM? I understand they don't 'hold' stock, that cars are sold on behalf of customers.

I agree about the pricing of the cars but then so are main dealers overpriced

my experiance is the service side of things and this what i am happy about

their prices are big and i would source my own cars thruogh classifieds and the like.As for the return of calls i rang and Barney returned my call within ten mins, not bad.

They do have some nice cars there

With regard to ML , I can only say that I have had my M5 serviced there since oct 2001 and 4 visits since including insp 2 a couple of months ago has raised some concerns to the point where I probably will not return there again !.

I dont want to go into specifics unless someone wants to know in detail, besides it will only sound like *****ing . I would also add that it has nothing to do with cost although it is a factor if the work undertaken is not as expected.

Barney is a good man and yes, the metal down at ML is what makes a lot of us tick but I can only comment on my own experience.

The previous owner of my M5 (he owned a few) didn't much care for ML either. Again when I prompted why, he didn't give a case by case catalogue but whatever it was, he never used them again. Instead he switched to Birds (specialist) and main dealers.

Personally I've never used them so can't comment. Just passing on an observation for what its worth.

regards

I'm going to have an Inspection II done at my local main dealer (Halliwell Jones in Southport) as I now know some of the staff fairly well (I've bought practically an entire E30 in parts from them!!). I feel if the job is not to my satisfaction then any complaint I may have will be dealt with properly for this reason.

I'll report back with the results (and the bill ).

Cheers,
Bryn.

The main thing I noticed when I was looking for a car was that they were pretty expensive. However they seemed pretty knowledgable and were happy to help me and check over my privately bought car.
