Extremely well-equipped. I have never seen that interior before, very cool with Alcantara in the roof and luggage-compartment. The only thing I donīt like is the black-painted kidneys.

Kees,

Given the cars mileage, that car is around 7k to expensive. Besides, I don't like the black kidneys, the cross spoke alloys and the change to the biturbo brake system.

On another note. I plan to look at a 9-1995 M5T with 121000k km that is for sale in South Holland for 27k EURO's. That car looks much better then the one on mobile.de and has a new engine (20k km) that was fitted by a BMW dealer. I think that 27k is too expensive, but included is the dreaded BPM luxury tax that will still be 6k EURO for a 1995 M5.

Rgrds,

Raymond

Raymond,
I went to the shop and saw the '95 Touring yesterday. I'm still very unfamiliar with M5's, so I might not be able to help much, but if you've got any questions mail me privately.

Maybe time for you to move up from your '90 M5 to a '95 Touring, I might know somebody who's willing to take good care of your current car...

The guy at the garage was also talking to me about a Swedish guy who had called for the car...Karl?

Hello Menno,

Yes, it was Karl.

I called the seller Friday in the late afternoon. He told me that there where a few interested amongst others one Swede. What is your impression about this car? Does he have serious buyers yet? I wanted to check that car out today, but was not in a good mood to drive to the West today.

I am seriously concidering this car, but not for the current asking price.

You can always make a proposal for my car . But bear in mind that it does not come cheap.

With best regards,

RAymond

Raymond,

The owner of the shop was a fairly easy-going type, although to appeared to be a bit of 'slick' type. His place was full of 'exotic' cars, 550 maranello, Jag XJ, older 911's, and some E34/E38/E39 BMW's about. Found it hard to make out if it was a reputable shop or just some 'flash-cash' operation. I didn't get the impression he had any real buyers yet, only some people looking at it. He was prepared to talk about the price when I indicated I had no trade-in, and when I said I would like to check the car at a BMW dealership he didn't object.

About the car, i was my first live look at a E34 M5, so I have no baseline to compare to. The car was parked in the middle of the showroom, so couldn't start or drive it.

Exteriour:
Looked very good, tires (Yokohama) were in good condition. Only thing, they were 245 all round, I believed the M-parallel's were an inch wider at ther rear? One gas strut of the rear hatch was missing. No M5 badge on the boot. Exhaust looked fine.

Interiour:
Fitted with the fully automatic A/C. Black leather, including door panels and grab handles, leather center console (everything below the A/C controls). Electric seats, memory on drivers side. Drivers seat was a bit 'wobbly', probably the mountings need to be tightened? The leather of the gearshift knob was a bit worn, a few holes in it. Had a BMW stereo, with what I could see from the factory list of fitted options which was lying in the glovebox, a 6 CD changer.

Engine/drivetrain:
As I said I couldnt start/drive it, so only visual inspection. Engine looked very clean, the cam cover had no greasy look as you can see on photo's of other M5's on the net. In general the whole engine bay looked very clean.

Documentation:
The service records showed some oil changes, an Inspection I at 84K km (end of 2000), and a oil change at 112K km in march this year. I couldn't find a stamp for Inspection II, that surprised me. A lot of bills were in the glove box, all from BMW dealers, except the tires.
From what I could see, the following had been done:
-Replacement engine
-new flexdisk in driveshaft
-Work on the AC (fl. 4000)
-New control arms and bushings
-Work on the sunroof
-multiple work on the rear wiper.

Most of the work was done at Ekris BMW, so they might be able to tell you more about the history of the car

I had no time to correlate the time frame of all this work with the entries in the service record.

All in all it looked like a good car, a bit more maintenance done than I would expect for a fairly young M5. I think his 27.5K EUR price is way too high though, getting a similair one from Gemany + BPM would end up at something like 18-20K EUR I believe?

I'll wait with my offer for your car till after you've got the Touring and have 4 cars parked in front of your house. I'll think your wife will make you accept any offer I make by then

Regards,
Menno

Well Menno,

Your summary about the sellers activities and stock confirmes the idea I have formed my selfe about that business. Based on this, I don't believe he offers a valid warranty as I wrote tou you an a private EMail.

In July there was a very nice 1995 M5T for sale in Munich for EURO 17k. The BPM would be no more then EURO 5k so I think that 22k is enough. Add to that 1K for the Dutch origin and I come to a good 23k. Only if that car would have less then 65k km, then the asked 27k is reasonable.

Actually, I have no reason to sell my '90 M5. My original idea is to store her for the next 13 years untill it has a classic car status. But if a good offer comes buy, I will think about it.

Rgrds,

RAymond

My car has the black kidneys along with the Shadowline trim, and that os my favorite look

We don't all have the same taste

I like that Touring, however I don't think the wheels look right, the interior is NICE!

yes, the Swede (?) who's out and hunting, I guess that's me ! -
yes, I wud buy another one but it wud hv to be an exceptional nice vehicle for the right price -
the 'Dutch' car in NL-Leiden seems to be a good one however the
price-leval is for the Dutch-market n thereby too high for a non-
dutch-resident -
the 'nice M5touring' in Germany for EUR 24.950 is not an Alpina
although it might hv Alpina parts, the previous (?) owner is a member of this forum -
