        rolling road

i've just taken my new beast to the local rolling road (AVA in Glasgow) they have never had a 3.8 in yet so couldn't compare it. These guys dont give compliments out everyday but commented that i have what seems to be quite a good one(thank f*** for that). it's running fine and is knocking out 292.3 at the wheels which made me smile even more when they put power figures next to an M3 evo(245 at the wheels) they reckon that it's probably about 332bhp at the flywheel. My beast has 120K on the clock(doesn't feel like it). Please tell me what your beasts are pulling and if you think mine's S*** please dont hesitate to tell me as i'm easily offended. Any of you boys down south know about any shows coming up let me know and maybe we can meet up and compare BEERS.

P.S. has anybody out there fitted a turbo to they're 3.8, if you have let me know because the boys at AVA where struggling to think where they could put one and if you have what bhp are you pushin. i'll stop my B.S. for now.

Mmm-Five has posted a rolling road dyno printout for his 3.8 on his homepage. If you view his user profile the link to his homepage is there. He has also replied to the "Top Speed" thread (amongst others), and links to his site are at the bottom of his replies......

As for a turbo (!!!) is it not quick enough already? I would also like to add an extra pair of driven wheels for driving in the rain !! 340 bhp through 2 wheels is interesting enough in the wet !!!!

From some threads on this message board (can't remember which - do a search for "turbo"....) I seem to remember 450 bhp being readily achievable. Interesting.

        All the best
        Mark

        Here's the link to my plots . . .

Note how low in the rev range the max horsepower is - only 334 @ 6097 - does mean I don't have to redline the car to get the best out of it though!

Also the power @ wheels is only 260 which works out at a 20% transmission loss. If this is correct then your 290 at the wheels would equate to about 360bhp (20% of 360 = 72+290)!
