UK E34 M5 nearly dead

After 14 years of ownership (minus a couple of loan spells to family and friends) my old trusty E34 M5 is nearly dead.

Low compression in No1 cylinder probably some valve issue and therefore probably not worth the expense.

What are the best options. I can't be arsed to break and sell so anyone know what it's worth.

1994 Calypso red 3.8. 152k
Gearbox crunches in 3rd and 4th at high revs

I'm also thinking of selling my E39 M5 too and getting an E60.

Seems a shame Andy,,, whats the overall condition of the car? Interior, body spec etc,,,

I take it she's a 5 speed as sure theres only 1 6 speed in calypso out there and John Baker Snr owns that. They're worth as much in parts these days unless the condition is great.

Andy,

I'm pretty close by (very, erm 1 mile away...)

I drive past your house on the way back from the gym every Saturday...
( cant help but notice....an E34, and E39 and an E46 in one driveway...! )

I can't p.m you and probably not best to leave a mobile number on an open forum
but if you are free one evening I wouldn't mind popping down for a chat / look at the car.
Let me know if you are free ( tomorrow ?) one evening.

Regards,

Alan.

Apparently I was misinformed about the condition of my car. I guess that's what happens when you let the guy you lent it to take it to a garage of his choice. It's now at Medway BMW centre in Strood where it's been going for 14 years. The no.1 cylinder has the wrong spark plug which was not firing at all and the compression is now OK. (Not sure whether the low compression was ever there as I have no trust in someone that doesn't even know what spark plugs to use!).

The car needs an alternator and an MOT so will know what is required next week. I will probably still look to sell it depending on what offers I receive as I still get enjoyment even if it's only a few hundred miles a year.
