RPM vs Speed

My E28 with S38B38, Getrag 280 and (I think) 3.91 diff does only 71,3 mph (@ GPS) in 5th gear at 3500 rpm.

Is this normal for an 3.8 M5? My tires a tad smaller in diameter (225/45-17 vs 235/45-17 for the M5)

What are your stock E34 M5 cruise speeds at certain rpms?

My 3.8 has 255/40/17 PS2 rears. As I remember at 70mph I'm doing 3000 rpm. On the upper end I can recall around 163 mph at 7000 rpm (I quickly add not in this country!)

Mine hits the rev limiter at 155mph already! I think I have a shorter diff (4.10).
