Battery Dead, now Recharged and Working, but car is dead.

Hi Guys,

So my e34's battery was dead (50 days without turning on the car). I recharged and now it is in good condition. Problem is, when I hook it up and turn the ignition key, the engine won't even turn, but the electrics work so I know the batt is good.

When I take out the key, the hazard lights come on. On my 4th or 5th try, the electric system goes out completely and the e-brake light comes on and stays on for a bit. What the heck is happening???

I'm pretty sure this is not an immobilizer issue as, from what I remember, the car won't start but the engine turns when the immobilizer is activated.

Could it be that my keys got decoded? The key battery in both is pretty low, almost dead.

Many thanks in advance for any advice.

Best,
Peps

Found the problem: Factory Immobilizer was triggered, and since key fob battery was low, took a few tries and the last drop of juice on the fob battery was able to disarm the immobilizer.

Therefore, when BMW immobilizer is triggered, the engine won't even turn.

Best Regards,
P

Good that it was resolved! Keep a good battery in the key, I think they will last for about 5 years....
