How in the name of Barbarossa do you get the parking brake handle off??

Twist and pull. Easier on older handbrakes.

For about a year now I've had a new boot to install, but could never figure how to get the thing off. I'd look online, at the parts diagrams, etc. It finally occurred to me to ask here. Doh!
