I am considering replacing my stock muffler with an aftermarket one and would like opinions. I have heard some things about Eisenmann being a good (maybe best) choice, but I'd like to get thoughts from those who have had first hand experience.

Thanks for the reply. How does the sound from the Sport version compare to stock? I am not expecting much if any performance gain, just looking for something that sounds great with no annoying drone at any rpm range.

Just recently took delivery of my Eisenmann Race, ordered it with 76mm tips as I thought the 83mm was a bit over the top and out of character for my car (stock standard 91).

I've yet to fit it (it still resides at the foot of my bed...), should be doing so in the next month or two, going to leave in the stock resonators and am expecting good things. There's plenty of clips on youtube, though many on there have deleted the cats and/or resonators.

Jrobbo posted some clips and I'm fairly sure his was just replacing the back box.

Best bet is to find someone local and sample with your ears, I did and was comfortable in spending the $.

I replaced just the backbox on my M5 with an Eisenmann Race (76mm as a custom order back then) and have been very happy with it.

It is a pretty loud exhaust, despite the rest being stock (albeit quite old), and it does get a fair bit of attention.

This is what it sounds like:
