AC Part Needed

After nearly 3 years of ownership I've finally worked my way far enough through the car to start focusing my maint budget on luxury items. I bit the bullet this spring and decided to have the AC fixed. Compressor works just fine, holds a charge, but after a full day of going through the system (and pulling the dash apart) my mechanic found the problem: the plastic box that holds the flaps/etc is cracked and doesn't function properly and results in one side of the car to receive cold air while the other gets heat. We've been unable to source one of these boxes. Anyone know where I can find one?

Intersting problem, good luck with the sourcing.

I would be tempted to fix the housing if just cracked. Not an option?

We may be able to re-glue it, may not.
My biggest concern is causing even more damage removing it. I'd like to have a spare one before attempting to pull it.

Where , exactly is the box that holds the flaps ?

Behind the centre console , below the stereo ?

Have a look on www.ebay.de and search for "e34 heizung", "e34 klimakasten", "e34 IHKA" or "e34 IHKR". Make sure to ask whether the seller is prepared to ship worldwide. I beleive Behr produced the IHKA (automatic) heaterboxes and Siemens produced the IHKR heaterboxes (manual).
If you have the automatic climate control, these sites might be helpful to you: BMW E32/E34 IHKA System, http://www.e38.org/e32/klimaautomatik.pdf, *DIY E34 heater core R&R (IHKA content) - Bimmerforums - The Ultimate BMW Forum.
