e39 M5 Wheels

I have a really nice set of wheels from an e39 M5 that I just can't see on my
e34 car as beautiful as these wheels are. I like the stagger but, in addition to
the hub spacers, it seems they'd need some very low-profile tires to clear
safely clear the fenders. I'm thinking I might sell the set and buy a pair of
original e34 M-system wider rear wheels for my car. Any idea what I should
charge? They are, in my opinion, on of the nicest wheel designs, but I'm not
sure they look as appropriate as M-system wheels with a nice set of Throwing
Stars...

quick pics here, I didn't even wipe the dust off:

245 40's will clear the front as will the 275 35 18's for the rear. You might need a 3mm spacer for the rears along with the hubcentric adapters, but these are great wheels for the E34 M5 as they are oem and look somewhat period correct.

You'll need to spend a lot of $$$ to get wheels equal in caliber, so you might as well use them.

I'm near Albany, but go to Rochester often as my daughter goes to school out there. Are you in Ithaca close to the 90....or out near the IC/Cornell area ?

Mike

Near Ithaca. Yeah, I'm close to agreeing with you. The OEM and "somewhat" period correct helps. Thanks. I just sold my 92 M5 with 62K miles and kept my black 91 with 52K miles. I'm still tempted to swap the turbines with the throwing stars I had on the 92 but add the wider rear wheels which are still (somewhat) available from BMW. Expensive, but available. Have a buddy here who has a high-mile but very nice Dinan 91 and we get together. You should stop by if you're in the area.

Will do !

I think I recall seeing the one you just sold in the AT. Can't be too many ones in Central NY. Hope you got good money for it .

If not sooner, we should all meet up at this years WGI Vintage Festival. I am also planning on the Patroon Chapter BMWCCA trackday there this summer.

Hi Tom,

Glad to hear you sold the '92. I'm sure the new owner is very pleased with it. I see that you are considering the wider M-System II rims. I just added these to mine and they look outstanding with the throwing stars. If you are interested shoot me an email and I'll let you know where I got them.

Bit of an old post but did you sell these or decide to keep them? If you still have them how much do you want for the rears?
