Thanks, I did not know this. Does that mean the CSL intake is a step backwards over the standard E46 unit?

From what I can gather the CSL system is reworking of the whole intake system, not a bolt on.

The focus was also on weight, so replacing metallic sections with carbon fibre is a sensible step. However, what we're talking about here is replacing a plastic component (already light, good acoustic properties) with a C.F. alternative (hard, poor material damping etc).
