Evening Gents,
my 3.8 has now done some 240,000 kms on an original engine and ran without any problems all last summer and hopefully will do the same this year.
I have been reading a fair bit about replacing rod bearings on this forum as they seem to be the weaker link in the larger capacity engines.
It seems that a lot of catastrophic engine failures come down to the bearings not being up to scratch.
I understand that they can be changed with the engine in situ and accessed once the sump has been removed.
So here are my questions:
1. Is it worth doing regarding the mileage?
2. Is it expensive?
3. Is it a straight forward DIY or best left to a specialist?
Thanks for your help!
