IMO ,,,,,,, all 10W60 oil should be high quality,, do not belive there is a much difference between brands ,, anyway

I have one and a half barrell (each 20 liters ) of Shell helix-ultra ,, RACING 10w60,, special recommandation for F360 and bla bla

bought them for 180$ or ca 120€ ,,each i was VERY LUCKY

i guess this oil should be good for my BT and S38B38,,

Castrol and TWS cost .. an arm or kidney here in Iceland

oil is also unbeliveble expensive in Germany

it is not uncommon to see castro 10w60 for 25€ + for 1 Liter on Autobahn gas-station redigilous price

I switched from 10-40 to 10-60 and my consumption dropped. Would stick to a recognised name but NEVER scrimp on oil or tyres. It is like drinking cheap beer.....a crime against mankind!

Or like paying for expensive UK Stella, when the Belgian original is both cheaper and the far superior beer. [subtle reference to TWS...sorry could not resist ]

I use Shell Helix Ulta (fully synth) 5w-40. If you change your oil often, and you should, you won't notice any increase in consumption with a thinner oil.

As David pointed out, use whatever oil you feel is right. If in doubt, check your owner's manual for recommended viscosities. I have a feeling that those who wrote it know a thing or two about our cars.

I always use TWS in my '99 E39 M5. I don't really know how it compares. I get through about a litre every 600 - 1000 miles dependant on type of driving, short trips really chew the oil up, which I am told is normal for the age and mileage. All I can say is in the 5 years of ownership I've never had any engine problems. Its not widely available in the UK, i get it from BMW dealers but only in 1 litre bottles @ £17 a time. The 4 litre cans do exist but its difficult to find a place that does them.

I use Lubro Molly 10W60 in my M5 and have had no issues with it.
I've been using Lubro Molly products for many years and have been very happy with them.
Costs about $60 CDN for enough to do one oil change.
