Respray time, avus vs. daytonaviolett

I am reconditioning my 3.8L (1992 model, 172.000 km)

Engine is getting new internals as I am fabricating a system with two sweet turbochargers, goal is a daily driver, pump gas, M5 twin turbo.

Regarding body parts, many parts will be replaced with new ones. From accelerator bowden cable to door weather strips.

Every rubber strip, molding, covering, sound insulation will be new.

It is also time to check for rusted zones and repair them.

The hole M5 will be resprayed.

Original color is Daytonaviolett, whereas I am leaning towards Avusblue.

Daytonaviolett looks under some sunlight conditions better, in dark weather it looks like black.

I love the avusblue color, with the grey side sills.

What would you do? Respray in daytonaviolett or in avusblue?

Since you're not keeping the car stock (turbo conversion...), for me there would be no good reason to stay with the original color. So if you like avus blue, go for it. I did the same on my carbon black E39, and I don't regret it. I just love the color!

I agree with Frits. Since it is suppose to become a turbo M5, what colour the paintwork is/was really doesn't matter anymore. It will not be a collectible, only a fun car.
I would prefer avusblue before daytonaviolet. Looks much nicer in the sun.

. I saw an estoril e34, on the forum, not a m5 though. Can we see some close up photos?

Estoril is a young generation color compared to Avus. Avus might be like a toxedo. Estoril like a suit with a tie.
So that means the avus gives a classic look to E34 M5.

Must say I'm quickly becoming a big fan of Orient Blue on the E34 - with our recent 540i/6 speed purchase. Not specifically an '///M' colour - but as the others above have said - do what you think is best for you !
