Review of Stebro CATback Exhaust

Howdy Folks,

about 1 month ago, I won a Stebro Exhaust system on Ebay for $800 CDN dollars and it was delivered to me by the owner of the company. He was in Toronto for the weekend and he put it in his trunk and dropped it off free of charge.

I had a custom exahust shop install it for me and I'll have to admit - it sounds really nice. There's a gentle vibrating burble between 1300 - 1900 RPM. Afterwards, you can't really hear it inside unless you shift and you have a nice drone when doing so.

The outside noice is clean and rythmic, with a deeper burble.

I'm satisfied with the sound, as the previous owner had a universal muffler [made my car sound like a honda Civic ] poorly welded into the original rear pipe which was rotting out.

This makes it sound like a BMW.

I've observed that the exhaust comes out in sheer force compared to the older muffler that was installed; like the exhaust is being forced out.

My biggest issue with the exahust was that the mid pipe that connects to the catalytic converter were not at all fitted. BOTH ends were flared and too narrow to fit.

The welder was pretty angry as he had to modify both the catback system and cut the Cat's ends to have them fit together.

As well, he had to weld a new hanger on the body to connect the system, as the one on the exhaust was in a place where there was nothing on the body.

I paid about $150 cdn to have it installed, and this guy is well known in Scarborough for customizing and repairing systems.

My only real problems to repair now is the leaking power steering, the failing master cylinder & the wierd squeeking coming from my rear wheels .

Mine bolted right up the the cats and everything just lined up.

honestly - He had to have mine fabricated in less than a day - because he offered to bring it in the next day as he was in going to be in Toronto the next day, coincidentally.

so I'm assuming there was a rush on it and hence there was that mess up.

I was a little tee'd off too b/c I I didn't wanna have my cat's modified and welded...i wanted a bolt up instead.

ah well...you get what you pay for - I got it for nearly 1/2 price, and the other european brands are way too expensive.

Sure beat's the old rotting exhaust system - I hated that nasty bugger, sounded like I was driving a civic....lousy Ebay universal bs.
