i feel i need to explain. i am a newcomer to the internet and do not wish to offend anyone.
now my m5 is my most prized possession and it is breaking my heart but i need to recoup some money back out of it as i am unemployed and no prospect of work for the foreseeable future.i would rather true enthusiasts like m5board members get first choice than one of the many breakers yards make a massive profit.
i think my engine is beyond repair for now as only bmw can quote for prices,a total of around £3500 for parts i am a fully qualified mechanic and would do the work myself as i have loads of time on my hands.
I do not wish to upset or offend anyone but i am in a strange situation regards money.

Hello Yorevol,

Sorry to hear of your situation. I can sympathise with your position and know how frustrating it can be when, without funds, something like this happens. It's not something you went looking for after all.

Maybe another option is to sell it complete and then buy the parts you need for the E12 from someone like Davidoli (seems to have more than enough of everything )? At least then you'll not have a half stripped shell sitting around that'll be difficult to shift later.

We're not judging you mate and I hope things get better for you soon.

Cheers,

Dave.

Hiya,
sorry about your circumstances of joining, i'm really gutted for you, but, welcome to the baord nonetheless.

I'm from your neck of the woods (Mirfield) but move to the smoke quite a while back.

re your car: i would say "think about it" for a while, and contact people like Faz and Davidoli re parts costs - if doing the work yourself is possible (facilities?).

having had spells of no income (nature of my life / work) I know just how hard it can be, and E34 m5's are not exactly cheap - but - in a few months the UK economy could be a lot better...? (of course this might not be the reason for no income and don't want to stick my nose in your business) in which case a fixed E34 m5 could be sold for more money, and less possibly heart break for you.

chin up, don't let the ******** get you down.

What parts do you need, other than the valve(s), piston(s)?

New Block?
New Head?

German Ebay often has bits and pieces.

Have you looked at online autotraders for any rough 3.8's going cheap that you could canibalize as a parts car and use your mechanical knowledge to do the work?

I dont understand if the engine has dropped a valve and you cannot afford to repair it then why not sell the whole car to someone who might want it and can afford to fix it. Or you could garage her untill you can afford to fix her.
