Quite true the viscous fan is a good system, and has lots of benefits and if I wasn't going forced induction I would LEAVE it! Any upgrade to an electric fan has to be accompanied with a new wiring setup for the fan otherwise your doing a poor job to say the least, so you are right it has to be properly integrated.

Like I said my motivation is due to going to a turbo setup and needing to eliminate the secondary electric fan for intercooler placement and to have a way to provide additional cooling when stationary and when the A/C is active etc. which you can't do with the viscous fan alone which is the reason BMW included the secondary electric unit to begin with.

Yes the E60 M5 fan is quite the piece, I'm pretty sure it should be more than enough for what I have planned!
