The noise is not the clutch, it's internal to the transmission. It goes away when you push the clutch in because the transmission stops spinning... There should be no noise when in gear and moving at >1500rpm.
The wear issue is debatable in terms of the effect of a heavier fluid on the rest of the transmission. Noise does not necessarily mean there is excessive wear going on....
I use Mobil1 ATF in mine. It rattles audibly at idle when hot but not at all when the fluid is cold. I'll likely try something a little heavier the next time I change it out.
