The 3.6 flywheel will work on the S38B38 you simply have to use the S38B36 clutch and pressure plate, I believe this applies to the 6 speed as well if your car is equipped with it. Rob Levinson at UUC Motorwerks has a M5 3.8 Touring that uses a OEM 3.6 flywheel so if you have any specific questions I would email or call him and Im sure he can point you in the right direction UUC Motorwerks * Ultimate Performance Fine-Tuning. Good luck.

Using a sintered plate on a dual mass flywheel is a pretty stupid idea, don't you think?

A dual mass flywheel would last about 10 minutes. And a dual-mass is just that. Dual-mass. So lightweight dual-mass would be the same as dry rain or wet fire. You could skim the outer half of the dual mass but IF shavings eacht the rubber core the flywheel is dead. Just convert to 3.6 or JB, considering the price of a JB the 3.6 clutch is pocketchange.

Dear Stevie
this clutch is produced by sachs and it is called performance clutch disc..with special organic friction material...it is not a common sinterbelag which is metal plated..

man.... there is NO other dual mass compatible one diferent from the OEM.... if you want, I can sell you my used duall mass flywhell so you can try to make it lighter.... but there is none of the shelf.... the way to go is 3.6 complete clutch kit + fly.... if you dont want it, forget upgrading and go OEM...
