S38B38 MAF deleted

Well, folks..

Mr X, ((((((( RUMA Tuning ))))) was here in Iceland

Last week and worked on several cars ,,

He deleted my AFM and ,, the result are stunning,,

free-reving the engine ,, is like a modern F1 snap snap

there is no hesitating at all ,, through the whole rev range,,

the engine is quicker reving up trough the gears ,,

it is just when the car starts , when cold ,,that the engine is not as smooth,

he also moved the opening time from the flap a little bit longer in the rev range ,, so there is a ,,,,,,,,,, semi turbo feeling when driving in 4. gear and you let the engine pull at low RPM

the torque curve is ,, excellent ((the feeling ))

we had no chance to go to a dyno

the RPM limit is oem ,, and the V-MAX also,,

E30 CABRIO is not a high speed car,, (( when the car was in EU i had a sprint against some 335,, they were not happy that a old E30 CABRIO pulled away and in 250 the noise inside the car when the top is up ,, is like getting a scream from T-REX direct in your ear ))

the oem chip had a 1024 kb memory

my new one is 32 kb

the best thing is,, if the customer is not satisfied at all he can install the oem chip ,, end connect the plug to the AFM ,, and drive back to normal

In my case i am really glad for this , program,, next thing is to take the AFM away and put som pipe instead,, ,, so there will be no restriction ,, from the airbox to the intake box ,,

ps,, one happy S3B38 owner

Fantastic news .......

It seems common knowledge that a MAF delete carried out correctly will result in performance gains .

Time will tell whether any reliabilty or efficiency issues are a concern .

Thanks for sharing and please keep us updated .

Piers in the E28 Forum is an advocate after carrying out a similar procedure recently !

This is really good news any chance you can get some dyno time anytime soon? What is he doing the fueling calculations on now, rpm and throttle position?

Any clue how he accommodates changes in air pressure due to altitude and weather and is he taking into account the air temperature at all during his calculations?

Not 100% sure on the S38 but on the S62 the ECU has an ambient
air pressure sensor you can use.

Just email Ruma Tuning. Price depends on location and number
of cars.
