Oppinion is needed. S38-B36 vs S38 B38. Thanks

Hi S38 mates,

I am building a S38 B38 into E30 M3...

My only question is:

If I fit 3.6 Single Flywheel/cluch and replace the original Dual Mass Flywheel from the 3.8, am I going to damage something on the engine, crank shaft ? Or this dual mass fly wheel is made for more comfort driving to eliminate vibrations?

The reason I want to upgrade is because I have read some 3.6 owners did upgrade and they are saying that the Engine is reving much faster than Dual mass fly wheel.

I only wander if I do this change will I cause damage on the Cranck Shaft, Engine?

Thanks
Anri

Hi Anri!

I have done this modification to S38B38. I have 3.6 single mass flywheel and Sachs SRE clutchkit. I can recommend this modification. There is weight reduction in total weight and more importantly in rotational weight. Engine revs more freely and no problems with gearbox noise with this flywheel. Some lighter flywheels can cause gearbox noises.

EDIT: Remember to change the 3.6 flywheel bolts too when doing this change. They are different lenght.

Best Regards, Janne.

Thanks MM-5,
I appreciate your reply and experience. If I am not mistaking my self S38-B35 E28 M5- E24 M6 the whole clutch/plate is the same as S38 B36 3.6 ???

I will get the same setting as yours.

Thanks
Anri
