A little trip around the ring in a M5 Ringtaxi and our 4000km roadtrip around Europe

Hi there all

Sorry for posting here but i thought we ought to share where we have been over the past 3 weeks, James and myself have been on a road trip through holland/germany/austria and belgium.

The highlight had to be a trip round the ring in a E60 M5, it was truly terrifying.

Ive cut and pasted what our James dropped on a VW forum as inserting photos is a nightmare and im not very computer savvy lol.

Hope you guys enjoy, sorry about the worthersee pictures from Austria.

All the best AndyH

Lads it was a great trip, cost a hell of a lot but was definately worth it :P
Pete il be at the next meet over in wakey next week
Started off at the Nurburgring and had a couple of days there, stayed in Adenau, beautiful little town, me and our Andy have said we are going to go back very shortly, didnt take the car on the ring as it was too dangerous but got a chance in a lifetime ride in a 507bhp M5 ringtaxi (as someone had cancelled theres) with a nutter called Jurgen, cost 200 euros but worth every penny, the single most terrifying moment of my life, 180mph in the wet wtf!!!
Next we went to stuttgart, called in at the Porsche and Mercedes museums stayed over night in a quaint little town called Ludwigsberg, next stop Munich, had a look around the City and as my bro is a massive beemer fan had to do the bavaria motor works museum.
We stayed in an old Nazi concentration camp town called Dachau that night, obviously the town folk hated the english as nowhere would serve us food or drink, and after leaving there in the morning whilst driving down the autobahn the steering wheel started wobbling, we pulled up and some c**ts had loosened the bolts on the front wheels ???
Next stop was saltzberg then straight to maria worth/villach in austria, to the treffen, we stayed in a camp site about 10km away from Reifnitz where the worthersee treffen was held, OMFG it was like all the vw's and audi's from around europe had swarmed this place, parties at the side of the road, cars constantly doing burnouts, we spent 3 days down here, just partying and having a well deserved break from driving, its not worth trying to explain the w'see scene, it has to be experienced
Next stop Reifnitz to the actual worthersee show, it was as though a small town had been turned into a moving car show, the metal on show was unreal, aircooled stuff watercooled stuff, porsche engined beetles to old type 70 vws, all which looked stunning, il bring my laptop to a next meet to show all the pics i got.
After austria we called back through stuttgart and munich then to belgium to some old historic allied liberated war towns, malmady, the ardennes and bastogna, stayed at those three places for a night and chilled out a little, next stop after that was eindhoven and nigmaghen in holland, then finally that sh*tehole called amsterdam, seeing amsterdam on stag does when you go out to get smashed is great fun, but to go sober and see what an awful place it is after crossing europ was a dissapointing end to a great road trip.
The car never missed a beat, although its alternator bearings now sound like a meat grinder lol, its taken me 5 hours today to get it looking like a nice car again, 4000kms in 14 days and 1000's of dead flys took its toll on little old golfy but its now back to its former self.
Ive added a few photos, i took loads but they are currently out of order, will add more as i get through them, enjoy
Best regards
J

Hiya Colin, hows it going, hope you are well

Me and James will be down at the pod this year, i 'think' we are going to go down for two days and camp on the saturday night.

I'l get hold of a mymotiv 'club stand' pass for you again if you would like, and save a space for your car.

Best regards and looking forward to saying hello down at the pod.

Andy
