No problem to have high speeds on any E34.

So Mert, how is the engine building going?

Fastest I've seen on the clock was 172mph, car felt great at this speed, especially as the V8 RS4 behind me was slowly becoming a smaller and smaller dot....

More recently Calypso managed 161mph (GPS) with Finaledition at the wheel, this car felt slightly more nervous at top speed but nothing that makes you not want to go there again.

Fastest my old 6-speed 3.8 would go was an indicated 176mph in 5th which was showing 167mph on the GPS.

BTW, it also felt more stable at higher speeds (in a straight line) than the Z4 does.

Based on GPS speed that is more or less the limiter in 5th, only another 2.65mph to go. Thats good going Tony, but you always were a nutter!!

What have you had out of the Z4...?

Only been to 150mph* on the road so far (and 120mph at Oulton Park), but that's due to me being on UK public roads. The car still seems comfortable cruising at 100mph though and gets better fuel economy at that speed than it does at 90mph (must be something to do with the torque curve?).

Can't wait to get to an autobahn to see if the 5th gear workaround is the same on the Z4 as it is on the M5 (in fact I even thought about driving to work in Hamburg last week just to do so - until I realised how much further Hamburg was).

* may or may not be true, so don't try to do me for admitting speeding on UK roads

Just do it Tony, I drove to Rome for exactly the same reason!! Although in a 1.9 diesel Astra it wasn't quite the same.....

for the record, when I had my car for two months, I did a GPS 272 km'h on the A31 Bottrop-Gronau and 270 GPS on the way back. It was quite slow for me, since I made 308 km'h there with my Esprit when I was 19.

3.6, ACS chip.

That must be a record GPS speed for a 3.6...

And now i think of it, also for the Esprit as I am assuming it wasn't a V8.
