Ok, I just got my indy to reset for free at the end of the day. It looks like on the sensor where the screws go thru is made of copper. Maybe that is the ground? I am going to scrub it clean and stabilant the plug and hook it back up. I sure would like to save $300 and even more to have EDC for my bomb out to Marathon on Thurs...(400miles)

How else could you test it I wonder other than using the fault code system?

cleared the faults and it's still sending fault codes, so I'm in the market for a working front acceleration sensor, but not a new $300 variety.

anyone have a spare?

geoff

I still need a acceleration sensor if some one has a used one laying around. I can't find a used one anywhere in the US, so I need a little help from across the pond.

I changed out a washer pump yesterday which very gratifying for my limited tool supply and skill set, but I came across this jumper loose and next to the washer tank and I followed it back to a wiring loom....any guesses?

My headlamps and fogs washer work fine currently.

I am still in need of an acceleration sensor for the RF, though I will hook up any sensor front or rear if it's working and reasonably priced as used.

Any of you nordshleifer's got one handy....anyone headed to a breakers...or know of an EDC equipped E34, E32, E31, or E24 that's being broken that I could trade a lil sum sum for a lil sum sum...you dig?

copy that

The pn on the part itself is 1181291, but the dealer says the part number is 37141179832 and they want $297 for it with one to two weeks for shipping. Cheapest I've seen it is $264.

There's gotta be some nurbergring suspension parts cars over there. The sensor is interchangeable on E32, E31, E34, and an M635csi special E24 Euro spec only cars. You could fit it in your shirt pocket, and the breaker would charge you $5 for it...

I don't know any US specs that have it at all. The E34M540 is a Canadian car. Not sure it was even on the US 1995 750il

[edit] Ok I found that Bavarian Recycling has a couple of used ones from 850ci's for $185 with a 6 month warranty. I still think that's too much...rats

doing laundry right now, and the maids came yesterday, so the house is real clean with no kids to mess it up immediately...my real job is paying the mortgage, so I don't feel too guilty. She and the kids are taking an airboat trip thru the everglades this morning. I leave for Marfa tomorrow morning. Gotta love road trips to West Texas...play a little Marty Robbins

I looked that part # up in realoem and it says it's a rear acceleration sensor. RealOEM.com BMW E34 M5 REAR SPRING STRUT ASSY EDC/LEVELL.DEVICE

Looks like someone's already replaced the OE front sensor with a rear sensor.

Not looking forward to the day when I need these for my M-Sport...

Checked what Tischer BMW had to say about it (getBMWparts.com) and they say this about the part #

And they want $237.90 for one. You really need to try looking to them when you need OE parts as there's none better in the US. Best prices, actual shipping charges, and great service.

Oh, and there were US spec E34's with the full Nurburgring package. The 540i M-Sport had it, all 200 of them. Not much difference between the M540 & M-Sport. See www.kindel.com/bmw if you really want to know more about those two BMW Individual Exclusive Edition cars.
