Whilst I was out today...

I stopped off at Autobahn Services on my way home today and saw this... A 300sel 6.3 and it was minty mint. Not a BMW obviously but a very nice old thing.

Dan, Gary has some amazing clients and some top cars hidden away....for either his vast pension or some form of sadistic pleasure. Have you ever seen some of his Alpina's.....possibly the best in the UK, but he never enters them for concourse!!

Hi Richard, It is of course one of Gary's own cars. I've seen both his Alpina's, the E12 B7s and his amazing E21, the Merc is wonderful but his coupe is the most incredible classic car I have ever seen - better than when it was new without a doubt. As you say he's not interested in car shows, just seriously obssesive about his cars being right.

Oh , this brings back memories .. When i first got my licence I sometimes use to drive on of those Mercs .. It was then a very nice car , and very fast too. It pulled like a train up the mountain roads leaving many newer cars in the dust .

The guy who owned that car sold it many years ago , and it is said that it is standing in a barn somewhere left on its own. such a shame for this fantastic car.

My grandmother had the US 280sel 4.5 version of that car, silver over that deep red. I remember going to see Laver whip Rosewall at Forest Hills on Long Island. She used the kickdown at will in that car and it would absolutely leap forward when she did. I love the little upper chrome bumpers and the boxy rear and minimal tail lights...it was a classy sedan that was fast and very purposeful with big squishy armrests

The M100 powered W109 is one of my favourite classic cars and I hope to own one someday. They are however very expensive to maintain, let alone repair so these are not for the average DIY enthusiast.
