'90 M5 3.6 EU Foldable keys + central locking

Hi M5 owners.

I had my M5 stolen, and the thief made a ID change of the car, changing out the locks, VIN number etc.

Now i've gotten my car back, but my foldable keys remote central locking does not work.
Is there a receiver unit somewhere in the car? I need to find out what he has done to deactivate it, as i need to fill out a list of damaged/missing parts from the car!
Any other good ideas is appreciated!

the foldable key you mention is it like a flick knife when you press the bmw button it flicks the key out. If so the remote has a sensor in the air vent grille inside the car near the windscreen. If you look in your car hand book there is a section on how to reboot or lnk the remote to the alarm.

I have the same problem also getting my locks working with the IR remotes. Since my car is from Germany I can't read the owners manual. I did find this link and tried the remotes on my car but no go for me. Maybe give it a shot. BMW E32 - Tips & Tricks

Thank you for your replyes, but i think i've given you the wrong idea of the problem.

I think he has removed the "ECU" for the remote central locking, so i need to find out where that box is placed. Any good ideas?
The central locking is still working, although only by turning the key in the door locks.
