Re: The E34 M5 Touring Registry!

Hi all,

New to the board because of my recent purchase of an M5 Touring.

Mine is the 01885 (Karl, would you send me the info on this one? Was it registered before?)

I sort of collect BMW's and try to find the most special/odd examples of a series. This "collection" consists of 6 * E23 (4 * 745i, 1 * 735i and 1 * 728i), 2 * E12 M535i, 1 * E30 325i cabrio and 1 * E30 325iX touring and now this '95 M5 Touring. Only a lack of money and storage place prevent me from getting more

Some info about the history of this M5T (collected from the German Fahrzeugbrief);

First registration 07-07-1995 to BMW M GmhH (!). Suspended 1-10-1996. Then registered 26-08-1997 to Mr. Bernhard Boneberger (04-04-1963, relatively young owner!). So apparently it took BMW almost a year to get rid of it . Registered again 07-10-1998 to Mrs. Doris Hess (11-02-1937, so they exist, old lady drivers!). Suspended again from 14-11-2002 until 11-12-2002, then registered to Mr. Bernd Weber (29-01-1970) who suspended the car 21-10-2003. He then sold it to Adrian Hasler from Switzerland who owned it until I bought it, 19-01-2004. He never registered the car in Switzerland, so therefore I got the german Fahrzeugbrief with it. I also still did not register it, since although originating from Holland I sort of live and work in Budapest, Bulgaria and Holland. I now insured it in Austria, where they don't ask silly questions about it being tested and where you use it, but I still don't know where I will have it licensed. Bulgaria would be EUR. 7500,-- on taxations, Hungary doesn't allow imports for cars older than 5 years and Holland will cost appr. EUR 4500,-- now, but EUR 3000,-- if I can manage to wait until july. So, how do I refrain from driving it then? Well, I don't, I use the plates of my 325iX touring (rather illegally of course) , but as long as it is insured I don't mind taking that risk so much and also, they're both BMW's, both tourings and both black , the only difference is that it's a 5 and not a 3, but what's in a name? And the speeding tickets I will get anyway .

Of, for so far, greetings to all of you M5(T) drivers!

Jeroen

Re: The E34 M5 Touring Registry!

Hi Jeroen@ and welcome to -M5touring- ownership. Interesting story, where
did you get all these details from ??? I knew the story as from -Bernd Weber-
when it was 'for sale' from him. So, yes, the car is in the registry. What do I
register for country of location ???
-
Have fun and take care of that rare piece. Anything I can do for you ?
I guess you received a -build-sheet-copy (BTX) from -Adi- ??

Hi Karl,

The details can be read from the German Fahrzeugbrief that belongs to the car, as long as there are not more than 6 owners, since then it will be renewed.

Just stick to Hungary for the time being, that's where I live.

Well, perhaps. No, as far as I recall I did not receive the BTX, what should it look like?

Do you have any specific info on this car?

Another question, will you ever make this registry available to the public? I'm really interested in it!

BTW, some more info you can find on my website www.bmw745i.com I did not update it since more than two years, but I now started again and I already put on it some info on the M5T.

Regards,

Jeroen

Re: The E34 M5 Touring Registry!

Hi Jeroen,
a BTX is a copy of the build-sheet for your car, I need an e-mail-address
or a fax-number to sent it to you (sent me a private msg, off-line) -
yes, the registry-dates (it is a CAR-registry, NOT an owner listing) will be
made available to a larger public once it has reached the standards I am aiming for, this is an on-going process with almost daily updates and changes, I wud also need help with the web-design etc.,if there is anything you wish to know, facts or details, pls feel free to ask, off or on-line -
brgds
Karl

I have 1931. It is Orinoco Metallic with bi-color leather interior. First registration wasn't until 4/96 on it. What more can you tell me about it? Original price? What number was it of 891?

Thanks

The E34 M5 Touring Registry!

m5anwalt@ ***931 is very late production car, build date 14.07.1995, first
registration 25.04.1996 (!), Orinoco-met. is a special order paint, only 4 (four)
were made in this colour, 931 might be the only one left in Germany, one is in
Sweden and one is in the US, no trace yet on the forth -
I do not know how you wish to count the number out of 891 made, these cars
are hand-built and were not assembled in exact chronological order, there are
only 12 cars with a higher VIN than 931 - i.e. it is no 879 if u wish
931 is an 'indivual' car with loads of extras and an exterior/interior identical
with the UK-run out limited edition cars (50 whereof 35 are in -orinoco-met.)
to re-calculate the original price u wud have to take the basic list price and
add all the options, although I believe that late production cars were sold
with a considerable rebate, still - this car was EXPENSIVE !
tell me more !! like mileage etc. if u wish a copy of the build-sheet for this car
I wud need an e-mail-address, send me a private message -
thanks for telling me/us that this car is still alive (meanwhile the number of
cars in the register has increased to 300+ BUT also the number of cars stolen, wrecked etc. increasing -- keep in touch

Re: The E34 M5 Touring Registry!

M5 Touring reg- Thanks so much for the info. The mileage is currently 97tkm. The interior is in very good condition; there is a slight dent right behind the right-rear wheel-well and the paint has some scratches and nicks. It feels very tight and solid, a big difference from my M5 3.8 non-Touring with 178tkm. I sent you a private message with my email and would love to see the build sheet!

Thanks

1932 has a new home!

This car is accounted for I am sure. It is one of the Orinoco Metallic cars that were produced towards the end of the run. This car was imported by Ron Wallace in '01 and sold in Nov. '03 to Barnabas Brown with about 69k miles on it. At that point the car needed new struts up front and tires, and there was talk about a coil over kit or some after market stuff being fitted onto this vehicle. Luckily Barnabas never pulled the trigger on that kit. In fact he just drove it, bouncing around like a hoopty and thats about it. Pretty scary to drive like this I should add. The car will now begin receiving some new factory replacement parts, as it has been treated somewhat like a stepchild for the past year.

Good news is the compression test was good, 140X4 & 138X2. I know these sound low, but this test was performed at an elevation of 7500 ft. above sea level. Leak down was good to with 4%, 4%, 5%, 4%, 6%, 7%. Interior was in great shape, just a touch dry. Paint is OK, as it has spent 2 or 3 winters in Colorado. Other than those initial observations, needs a new guibo and some time in the garage out of the elements.

Is it possible for you to email me with information that you have on this car. Original service stuff from Germany made it with the car, but the build sheet and other docs. Ron received from you has been lost. This would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Greg
