Karl:

Do you know how many streling silber M5 Tourings are made? One seller says that only 70, is it true?

Rockwell@
I have to look this up in my files at home but I am pretty sure that the number is much LESS than 70.
There are at least 9x M5ts with -sterlingsilber-met.- as a -special paint- when the colour was not a standard-choice any more. It could that be that ALL silver-shade colours counted together might result in a number around 70
BUT -sterlingsilber-met.- alone, no way.
BUT let me check the facts and I will revert.

Hi Simon
Thanks for your congratulatory message. Yes it is the same Ebay car you mentioned. I put the link to the advert earlier in this thread. The kids/wife will love the rear window blinds & double sunroof. Were the blinds & double sunroof standard equipment on all Tourings?

Hi Chris

No the blinds and double sunroof were options which my car also enjoys, although the double sunroofs can cause pain if they go wrong! Plenty of lubrication and regular use helps.

Hopefully if you in the area we will see you when we meet up in the Hertfordshire area.

If I can be of any help don't hesitate to contact me.

Reckon one of my first mods will be the headlights. Read with interest your comments in another thread. The Xenons in my e39 are brilliant. In the the e34 it will be like driving with a couple of candles at night!

Hi Chris

One of the best mods you can do. them candles are not that great for a potentially 170mph car!

Also just consistent and good maintenance and by consistent I mean dealing with things when they turn up.

I do not know what if anything you have done to the E39 but it is pretty hard to imporve on the E34 while spending reasonable money and better lighting is one of the best mods you can do.

Cannot think of anything else to suggest I have had mine for nearly two years and cannot think of another car that I could replace it with ,apart from possibliy a new E61 M5 Touring.

But I do think that Karl is right and that you are going to find that using the Touring is the more special event rather than the E39. After all there are around 20,000 E39 and less than 891 Tourings, I think if I remember Karls's figures there are around 22 in the UK......Rare to see one never mind two on the road.

If you need any details of the HID conversion which as you may have read in my car is fitted in an OEM way, as far as possible, then do not hesitate to PM me.

Have fun in one of the rarest performance cars every produced in a bodystyle that can supprise so many people on the road.

Terve Rockwell@
the total number of -M5tourings- that left the 'holy halls of Garching'
in -sterlingsilber-met. (244 M) is 28 (only) + 9 M5tourings of modell-year 95 that have this colour a 'special-paint from Individual' (one of these 'Italian-version-cars is now running in Sweden) -
(all details are -without engagement- only)
-
granitsilber-met. = 26
arktissilber-met. = 10
-
i.e. if you add these figures up the total is 73
-
then there are 14 in -fjordgrau-met. (310 M)
