I agree completly this is the next thing on my list of things to do and I will also renew any other coponents that are needed in the suspension this will give me a new car, suspension wise which will be fantastic and just in time for a "ring visit"

the option-list is the same as the build-sheet but I will sent it to you -
then you can also see that someone took the M-technic-aerodynamic mirrors
of your car and replaced them with up to modell-year >92 mirrors, whereas
your car shud have from <93-modell-year-mirrors but it had M-mirrors from the factory as an extra pay option -
KW-coils, i.e. EDC-damper-system is also gone ??
side-indicators in front-sidewalls seem to be 'aftermarket' and placed in the
wrong position or wrong direction ?
-
after what you've reported it seems to me it will cost a fortune do re-awake
this car from the dead, do you really think it is worthwhile ? I know the value
in Finland i higher compared to Sweden and Germany but still ? on the other hand you are probably aware of all this and have decided in favour anyway,
I appreciate that and wish you luck. (Do not compare a worn-out M5touring with a fresh RS2 and you shud consider to put the EDC-III-system in place again).
ALL THE BEST !
Yes its rather odd that the newer style m3 type mirrores where removed. But this I can have changed once I'm finished with the more important stuff.

Yes the edc is now inoperable due to having been repalced by the coilovers. I do prefer the slightly firmer ride of the coilover suspension. I'm not so much of a bmw purist as of yet as to be bothered by things like the "incorrect" side repeaters.

Well I got the car so cheaply (5k euros) that I hope that the total figure will still be bearable.
Some work has been done and it seems that 2 injectors are leaking which will probably explain the high emmision die to fuel not being burned properly. Then the shaking at 80km/h is probably due to the very worn out rear axis rubber bushes ( the large ones). They don't cost much as are common to all 5-series e34. But the injectors cost 146€ each..!

The rs2 I had was also a bit of a project car. I like the buy these lost souls and put them back to their former glory

I'll keep you updated on the repair process.

Niko

Now, I'll be ready to join in at the meet! As of today, proud owner of BL01465
Avusblau met, Antrazhit stoff, Climate, Double sunroofs, Nurbürgring fahrwerk, Servotronic, Alarm, Electrically manouvered frontseats with Mem for driver etc etc.

The car seems to be in good condition. The interior is in a pretty good shape and the exterior too. Mechanically the machine seems very sound, and the gearbox is smooth without excessive play. The EDC II system needs a lookover though, a little soft in the dampening department.

Bought, paid for and driven to its new home

Best regards
/Micke in Sweden

Hi Micke,
to check EDCIII-suspension can not be wrong (be prepared for the worse
at this mileage). If the EDCIII-systems failes or dampers are worn out then
the system will lock itself in the -HARDEST- mode.
-
Your car does have the Nuerburgring-package- S/P-EDC-switch, what happens if you select the S-mode = still soft damping ? does the system work at all ??
-
did you not ask about -compression- figures after you made a pre-purchase-test ??
I can not find your message any more, where was it posted ??
brgds

Hi Karl!

It seems that the suspension firms up when i select the S-mode, but not nearly as much as i would like. But, as you know, the conditions here in Sweden right now, are not the best to try out the suspension under more active driving My car has got brand new 16" winterwheels on at the moment, and they are naturally a lot more flexible than the 17" wide rims with summertyres.

I am mentally preparing myself to replace the EDC dampers when the winterseason is over, but for now the clutch is to be replaced while performing an Inspection II also. This will take a considerable chunk out of my wallet for now

And, about the compression questions, they are here:
M5 -93 compression

Best regards
/Micke

Hi Micke,
check on -www.e34m5.se-, see you in the M5touring-section
compression-figures for my car before purchase were
between 2,2 and 2,9 BAR higher than 11 BAR, 13,2 to 13,9 BAR -
whatever that means and tests are really comparable -
-
I would have clearly recommended a 'leak-down-test' which is far more
conclusive and -pin-points- the problem IF there is one -
-
brgds

Karl,

Way to go on the car tally by country! It is amazing the time you are able to devote to the E34 M5 Touring.

Good work, maybe take a break and enjoy a beer.

Greg
